Not being a big fan of anything that is a uni-tasker (one use item) I even apply that to our foods! Buying one type of oat and using it for many different recipes and replacing other items makes the humble organic rolled oat a GREAT grain for multiple uses.

Save money by finding new ways to use the less processed rolled oat.

  • Can you please tell us the name of the products you are using for milling and kneading the bread! Tx!

  • @allmusic85 ~ Hi!

Sorry to be delayed in my reply! I didn't get the notice of a comment!

I used the NutriMill to mill grains but this is just a food processor (can't mill rolled oats due to the oil already pressed out). Contact us if you are interested in a mill. millersgrainhouse (at) gmail (dot) com

The bread machine...don't remember the brand, Weston maybe? I got it at a thrift store for $10 (o:

  • Are you Christian?

  • @information213 ~ by the most direct definition of the term, I follow the Risen Messiah, and He has my life and heart. The word Christian is often misunderstood as if being American makes you one...or sitting in a church makes you one...so I have to clarify.

Sorry the answer took so long in coming..I'm not getting youtube notices of comments for some reason.

  • Yep we use this for all our 'cobbler' toppings! Whole grain and easy! What could be better!

  • My favorite use of oatmeal is to mix it with a little butter and flour into a crumble and put it as a topping of peaches or apples. You just add a little flour to the fruit and sitr, add the topping and bake until the oats are brown. I also use oats as a facial but that's another topic. LOL

  • Thank you for your kind words of encouragement! I'm always looking for ways to use things that are 'out of the norm' - and oats in meatloaf make sense to me!

The Blender works well for many items other than liquids - just (like you said) have to watch over chopping in it!

Glad you've enjoyed this one - more to come!

    Blessings!

  • Thanks so much. I've been putting the whole oats into my liquidizer. I can't, for the life of me, get the finer oats here and we love it for breakfast porridge. I ground it, but always wondered : ) I need to be careful with the liquidizer (blender, I think you call it), as it can turn the oats to powder very quickly. I like your idea of making up your meatloaf for freezing. That's an impressive-looking slab you have there ; )
