All it's doing is selecting an area on the screen with static colours that can be distorted the exact same way as distorting an image on Photoshop. Knowing the colours of the selected surface, each time a video frame contains something passing over the surface, it does not write video data on those pixels (A person walking past the wall). It's nothing ingenious...
