Until this time (Sept. 2006), I hadn't seen this method of starting a car before.

  • At the time (Sept. 2006), I hadn't seen a key and a button that start a car before.

  • What kind of car is that? Vauxhaul?

  • I think it was a Renault.

  • wtf, thats crazy

  • @lear1000 Its a renault megane, i´ve already drive one of these

  • Damn, I would have been so damn confused, esp if I was baked, lol. They would have handed me that "key" and I would probably have just stared back at them blankly like "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"

  • @justinaurelius Renault Megane

  • Dude, starting a car in Greece is like starting a treadmill here in America.

  • I never thought about that. At times, it is convenient b/c some of these new vehicles (instead of a key) have a remote you have to stick in a slot. Other times (like on these Prius'), you have this system where the vehicle recognizes the remote and automatically opens when you come near. The same thing is to be said when you start it. You basically, get in, shift, and drive. I have been thinking in getting a Prius. That is a good way of looking at it. However, crooks will always find a way.

  • @Interests2009 well, its a good system as i see it.

surely saves the starter from suffering :)

and its prolly not as easy to bypass as a regular keysystem.

  • @Boosted1981--I wouldn't be surprised if many automobile manufacturers will change to this system eventually. I am seeing switches in more and more new vehicles.

  • @Interests2009 BMW does use it as well.

  • Cool!

That's pretty much the same concept the Toyota Prius uses.

    Thanks for sharing.
