a wee bit of "sham rock" from my ye olde celtic punk band The Bedlam Rovers, shot on 16mm in 1989. The footage is all done in San Francisco's financial district, much of it from a show on St. Paddy's Day. The darker indoor footage and sound was from a gig couple weeks later. It was the first & just about the only time we played this new song called "Wild Eyed". The messenger footage includes band members Caroleen & Andrew, plus many local late 80's SF scenester legends from Quicksilver etc.

line up on this song:

Caroleen Beatty - Flute
Andrew Bunn - Drums
Jeremy Bunn - Mandolin
Lil' Mike - Vox
Michael Mood - Percussion
Marko Sakmann - Guitar
Greg Snyder - Bass
Cynthia Wigginton - Violin

thanx to the the filmmakers who put this together, and provide the only known documentation of the late 80's era of the band.

  • love this band

  • isafahani I have the album Frothing Green.

I made this video for the Rovers years ago.

I think you might be able to find her around 17th street at The Lexington Club. Caroleen worked with my wife as a bike messenger when I made these videos. Only one is on playing with the begining reedited by little mike the ex singer.

Good luck on your hunt her voice has haunted me and countless others for years. They use to play at the same gigs as four non blondes and sister double happiness.

  • Thanks for posting this - I heard a lot of "Frothing Green" when I worked at the Hard Times, and wish I had caught the band when you came thru Mpls back when.

I'd love to see more, and I'd also like to get lyrics to "objectivity" so my band can cover it...

  • oh yeah! post all bedlam rovers stuff, they were SO great.

  • Do you have any other Bedlam Rovers videos?

Do you have any videos where Caroleen Beatty is singing? She is a great singer! I have all her stuff from Bedlam Rovers, Waycross, Pounding Birds, Taking Tiger Mountain, and her solo CD "You're Only As Pretty As You Feel."

But this is the first music video of her I've seen. I hope if you have anymore of Caroleen peforming you will post it.

    Thanks!
