David Norris is an Irish human rights campaigner, scholar, independent politician, Senator, native Irish speaker and a prospective candidate for the 2011 Irish presidential election.

He is a former university lecturer and a member of Seanad Éireann since 1987. Internationally, David is credited with having "managed, almost single-handedly, to overthrow the original british anti-homosexuality law which brought about the downfall of Oscar Wilde", a feat he achieved in 1988 after a 14-year campaign.

David is also the Chairman of the James Joyce Centre Dublin and a renowned expert on the works of the Irish writer James Joyce.

  • @digoe04 Thankfully your prediction was wrong and even when you were making it was clearly going to be wrong. Being a so-called 'gent' doesn't come in to it - a horrible, selfish and deluded man. The people have spoken, thank god.

  • What do you mean horrible man. No bigger gent than David on the candidates. Such passion ,intelligence and possitivity not the same old negetive irish downbeat attitude. He would pump life back into the country having just his presence there. In Norris we believe. I predict next presdent of Ireland.

  • Horrible man with objectionable views. Selfish and with poor judgement. Please go away.
