Can you tell how many Spins, Rolls, & Cartwheels take place in this Cobra Crash?

Cobra Engine FOR SALE Almost New, 426cid stroked Windsor with, Tremec 5 speed / road race gears. Over 14K in motor and Trans
Go to Candid Realty Group.Com and send Pete Tryce a message. Located in Southern California

On the front straight doing 130mph, something breaks in the frontend. The cobra veers hard right and off track. The car leaves a 6O foot gash in the asphalt as it veered before leaving the track and continued for an additional 500 feet off track to its resting point. I received only minor injuries to my left knee and bruised ribs.

  • I was the drive of this wreck. Yes. I will race in the again. The car was a Backdraft Cobra on BMW E 36 suspention and running gear. I had put the car up for sale that weekend at the track because of the lap times and speed we were getting. The plan was to sell it and purchase a full cage race only car. I am still glad this did not happen on the freeway at half the speed with other cars and guardrails to hit. Thank you all for the well wishes. Pete Tryce

  • If it left a gouge in the track, did a wheel come off, did a spindle fail?

  • @cruyeda, It is our thought now that something in the rear end broke. Not sure what part failed as everything was ripped apart on 3 corners of the car.

  • Glad to see you survived relatively unscathed. Proper safety gear makes a difference, but at a certain point you just have to take a step back and realize the adrenaline we are all hooked on has a dark side. Do you have any intentions of having another track day car or are you retiring from it?

  • I'm glad to hear you are OK. Watching the video was a wake up call for me for a driving suit with arm restraints, and to take a closer look at my suspension before going out again. I've run with you with this group before and will miss seeing you out there. Best wishes, John (AKA: WHTNUKL)

  • Holy cow! This is definitely the most sobering video that I have ever seen! Glad to see you escaped relatively uninjured - how bad did the harnesses hit you as they flew around? Does this incident change your mind on racing an open cockpit car?

  • Glad you're okay. I'm surprised that they let you on the track with your harness improperly mounted. I work in the off road spectrum of racing and that would NEVER pass tech inspection. Hope you get it going again....and mount the harness correctly!

  • the plate reads "<3Z2BITE" at 6:53 backwards.

  • just as the crash happened i thought you got decapitated by the road as it flip i was thinking " HOLY S%$T WHERE DID HE GO!!!" and dude you are one lucky sum bitch 130+ should have killed you. but it did not!.... will you ever race agian??

  • I was there racing when it happened and yes pete extremely lucky to be alive.

  • I have to ask catoobusy, is the car a kit car, if so which one? I ask because if it is you should send a note to the mfg so they can see how well the car held up. You were lucky. Glad you weren't seriously hurt.
