One time I started to create some tunes. Always imagining an abandoned cowpony becoming lost on its lonesome trail through the deserts around the Mexican borders, one tune began to grow. It told of its endless migrations, desperate searches and its longing for companionship and kindred spirits. It spoke of the wish to find a home stable without having to sacrifice its free will and freedom as well as the desire to not die alone.

Much too shy to play in front of an audience, I found myself dragged one evening to a small stage at a country party with some guests from the United States of America. I shook like a little filly facing the cold world for the first time. But suddenly, the world turned warm.

It was a beautiful summer night and there was nothing but the night fires, the singsong from the crickets around, the low snorting of the horses and the smell of hay and leather. One of those moments that would keep me alive. So in peace, I knew there would be nothing that could happen to me and I started playing my old tune.

All of a sudden, there was such a big silence one could hear a pin drop. It scared me, but then I knew they were listening - they were coming along with me to that place I was telling about in my tune. That was the most precious gift I ever could imagine.

What better thing than to give that feeling away?

I hope it brings you some enjoyment.

Take care

~ Evi ~
