Searching for the vanity sink and cabinet............................... home centers in Japan...beware of the toddatron.

Yea. Moved in but still brushing my teeth in the kitchen sink. So I need a vanity sink and cabinet. Never mind paint and something to cover up the bare sheet rock ceiling in the bathroom changing area. When that's done then it will be a real nice entrance to the unit bath. The Japanese bath culture has really inspired me. I want a cool bathroom and for cheap!

Japanese home centers have a vibe almost exactly like America but they are a little different and a lot better. In the states they open and put everyone out of business then they streamline and your stuck with their selection. Here the home center really puts meaning to the word itself. Now the focus at the Japanese home center is on tools, parts, gardening and lumber. However the mammoth ones are so big that they resemble a mini mall under one roof all about building and home goods. Free truck rentals for up to one hour yes FREE! That really helped me out since I do not have a car. I used it every weekend for a month. Contractor clothing, big professional tools and equipment, incredible hardware sections, tatami mat making, carpets hemmed as you wait, curtain alterations, pet store with pets and grooming, a cafeteria featuring fast foods and ramen, tire shop, automotive section, and even small furniture. The garden section and lumber yard are also impressive. Some even have a form of recycle shop. Yes I have been to some that have just about all of the features listed. I forgot to mention the steel section, yes big pieces of metal and steel sheets poles and beams and the steel is very cheap as compared to America I would say about 50% less at the big home centers. Maybe cause It comes right from Asia? All I can say is thank goodness for the home center in Japan. I can build anything with them.

  • which ikea was that? was it the one in funabashi? looks different..haven't been there in awhile (about 1.5 hour from the city i live in)

joyfulhonda is awesome, they have everything there. cainz isn't too bad either. i didn't know that about the free truck rentals, that's cool to know. only in japan can you buy a pet, get it groomed, eat lunch, buy groceries and home stuff, and get gas at one store!

  • That Super Viva Homecenter I talked about with 11in the comments is not on the vid but its close to that Ikea by car. Its a monster.

  • Thank you so much for sharing all your interesting shopping trips on youtube, and all the Japanese culture ones too! I am in Canada and my daughter and I love your channel! you rock!

  • Thanks! Glad you and your daughter like the show.... I am touched:)

  • Nice house!

In a typical Japanese house, like yours, what are the walls and floors made of? And that think that looks like a chair rail 6 feet up ... is that structural? or does it just sit on the surface of the wall material?

  • Watch the other vids 1 to 5 I show it all. Cheers

  • Cool, an Ikea in Japan, it never occurred to me there would be.

  • @LoveAhiru or for that matter I dont think i ever seen so many people in IKEA here in Sweden.

Sorry but i couldnt help but laugh a bit with the free tape measure and a map! I never realized it how different IKEA must be seen from others eyes.

  • oh god when i saw the IKEA sign, i just laughed. Here in sweden I am used to seeing an IKEA almost everywhere. but really i never imagined people in Japan shopped from IKEA. For that matter I still have a hard time imagining IKEA being in USA.

  • what video# is your attic remodel.

I'm slowly doing my house from the roof down, been using blue board for insulation...Easier to work with than fiber glass. Wish I could spray poly but it isn't available yet....in Nara-the city of the dead.

  • Your wife is very beautiful! lucky guy :)

  • I want to move to Japan when im older like 20 or sumthing

  • If you thought that, THAT Ikea was busy, then come to Scandinavia and see some crazy stuff! :D

  • It's great that you are a DIYer. I wish my husband had your talent.

  • lmao... amazed by an IKEA that busy? Or that they have free tape measure? That's how it always is here in the Netherlands. And the tape measures are free at any IKEA in the world ;)
