We as catholics should be alot more respectful to our priests and bishops. We should imitate King David. Saul was in many ways unworthy, but David always showed him the utmost respect, recognizing that God did indeed annoint him, and he was still God's annointed though he sinned so much. In fact, David was careful never to harm Saul or do him any wrong on account that he had been annointed by God. Our Priests and Bishops are God's annointed, and are how we here the living Word of God.

thank you sherpatothenet, I am deeply troubled by all the news. Fr. Corapi really helped me come back to the church, and grow in my journey. I'd always listen to him with the highest respect. I thnk we should all pray at least 20 days for him, to commenmorate his 20 years as a priest, before we think of saying anything bad about him. I know people are upset, and maybe they have a right to be, but it trully is sick how some people are putting him down and not responding with charity.

I couldn't agree more...I will certainly pray for him. I think that most of the people who are jumping on the hate bandwagon were liberals who did not like him in the first place- now they are using his personal struggles as a way to justify their stance that his message was less then the truth from God. We mus remember that throughout history God has always used sinners (Moses, Saul, David etc) We have to remember John Corapi is just a man...and should be our friend.

@jpfader His fall made allot of us sad. No matter, Father Corapi spoke the truth and articulated the Catechism as well as anybody. Everything he said was truth. What he did was sin.

Its important for people to know, Corapi wasn't running around giving his personal opinion on things....he wasn't saying anything new. He was conveying the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and he did it well!

@sherpatothenet Don't forget that St Peter himself lamented that he may become a castaway himself ! Coappie never had the faith to begin with and was chosen to be a priest because he was a former drug dealer and such . You need to understand that being a good person is not enough you MUST have the faith handed down by the fathers not this vatican 2 modernism that is illegal under the Oath Against Modernism by Saint Pope Pius X. You cannot have Novus Ordo Frankenchurch IN THE CHURCH !

Out of that same fairness, you must admit that you had huge differences with Father Corapi and JP2 before this happened. Although you are certain on the other end of the spectrum from a liberal. This is the point I am trying to make. Those of us liked him before his fall are taking all of this with a compassion and temperance.

The Catholic Church here in the US have been messed with too much and the priests speak little on our behalf. A civil war, world war 1 and 2, financial servitude, the war on drugs, religious wars etc. I think the Catholic Church's people are basically magnets for problems which they did not create and a people who would like a simple life rather than anything else.
