im 14, my dads a servicemen with the national guard, and i plan to join up as well. and @Millerjeffrey1968 each Nimitz is about 100,000 long tons displacment, yes

@steve1mufc I think the HMS Illustrious Is still in commision. Not as large as the Nimitz class but still a great carrier. I think the Illustrious is around 25000 tons displacement. The Nimitz class is somewhere in the 100000 ton range(I think).

awsome i would love t have a chance to serve on a nimitz class carrier.im 30 though and probably to old, plus im english and dont think we have any carriers left. in the royal navy.
Does "super" mean that it's also nuclear powered?

@ChicaWolverina Pretty much so, the ten Nimitz class carriers each have two nuclear powered engines, and are a little larger than the previous class carrier (among other specs). The "super" part is something I see in the media (such as the discovery and military channel). I've never heard Navy personnel actually use the term.

@TallSky Ok thanks!~ Why do the tugboats spout water out like that, is it for cooling?

@ChicaWolverina - It's a salute - a welcoming home salute; a display of respect.
