Dictators are rulers who hold elections where there is no chance for anyone else to compete. Chavez is a dictator and a really bad one, who blames anything bad that happens on the U.S.

Facts are stubborn things.  You still have capitalism in Venezuela, contrary to popular myth. Moreover, there are many worker-controlled companies etc.

Like I said, if you don't like him--VOTE HIM OUT. Dictators cannot be voted out. Chavez can. This effectively disqualifies him from that label.

THE ARE NONE PRIVATE OWNERSHIP OF VENEZUELAN RESOURCES the last ones where the gold and has been nationalized, he has taken so many corporation and private companies the ILLEGAL WAY, everything he says is the rule in this country, he writes the laws, THAT'S A DICTATOR. You can't tell anybody he isn't if even you ain't from here. Why better not change your prime minister over Chavez?

1. You still have private ownership of productive resources in Venezuela (i.e. it is not total Communism), so he is not a dictator.

2. He was democratically elected, therefore he is not a dictator.

You may not like him; you may think he is consolidating too much power, but you have recourse: vote him out.

He's a dictator, in '96 he tried to take power by a coup d'etat and he failed, he was given life in prison then because of corruption he was freed after 2yrs, then he won the '98 elec. and he changed everything in our constitution for worse, prolonged the presidential term from 4 to 6 years, in '06 he ROBBED the elect. he owns the vote system. This country is Hell, is easy to speak when you're in AUSTRALIA come and live HERE. HE will be over in '12 alive or dead.
