I would fight to protect "our civil liberties". Who is a threat to "our civil liberties"? Not Iran, Not Saddam. They did not pass the patriot act.

A "volunteer" army is just as coercive as a civilian army. Sure the volunteer army is optional, but the choice is between starving to death or becoming part of some new government program, because when your dollars are drafted, the only thing left to do is to try and get them back. So in effect, both you and your money are drafted in a civilian army, same as with conscription.

I have noticed that the people who scream the loudest about protecting our liberties by force of arms always want someone else's child to do the dirty work.
They won't lift a finger to protect their own liberties.
Our citizens become more selfish and self centered with each new generation.
I long for the days when men like our WWII Veterans were willing to do what's right and not what's in the best interest of their pocketbooks.

John Murtha is a damm crook and as a Vietnam era veteran who spent 2 years in Asia I consider him to be anti-American. He should be impeached for the corruption & grossly wasteful spending on his little private airport.

A citizen army kills our military.
In this day and age it is not needed. YOU CAN'T FORCE PEOPLE INTO A PROFESSION THEY DON'T WANT! Why can't this fatass coward understand that. All the countries in Europe have Great armies the have high standards because they are small and highly trained. If we turn into Russia (Forced conscription) imagine what will happen? It'll be a debacle of epic proportions.
