GUYS! If you read the video's info, you can see that it clearly says no bashing. No need to argue over whether Fantasia or Jeanette are better. They are both great singers and I think they both did superb in the role, which is why they got picked to play it. Please, just enjoy this music or if not, it's being deleted.

i ownder y its closing after Fantasia left, she did something because tickets sells skyrocketed after it was said shed be in the color purple. and y didnt the gilr who plays celie in the tunr get picked to stay in ny? please fantasia tear this song up, which is a good thing. there always be haters and ur one of them.

this song gets in ur soul and dances from beginning to the very end. I saw her on broadway and was so very impressed. this performance and Elisabeth Withers "push the buttom" were exceptional! A must see at least once.

If you dont think for one second .. that the reason they sent Jeanette as the Tour Celie while she was the current Broadway celie.. just because they wanted Fantasia.. YOUR ARE SADLY MISTAKEN.. THEY WANTED FANTASIA... SO THEY FOUND A WAY TO GET HER.. WITHOUT FIRING JEANETTE...

she left to do the tour

then kenita miller came in, and left the show do to a family emergency, then went on to do xanadu which is nominated for best musical this year

thank u mikey for posting this ....i saw fantasia do it in new york, i didn't think my manly ass could cry...but my friends were all staring at me cuz streams and streams of tears, i dunno what happened, all i know is that this musical was the best of the 7 i saw the week i was in NY....fantasia is gonna be Celie in the movie and she was the most phenomenal real actress on stage i have ever seen...what a transformation!

aww you can here somone crying, not just fantasia! i cried when i heard fantasia sang this too! she did an AMAZING job! im so sad shes gone but im happy that they r makin the color purple into a movie based on the broadway show/bookandmovie/ but a new one and fantasia is going to be Celie! thats awsome! and jannette sang this amazing too as well as Lachenze! gosh im sad that its off broadway but when it comes back im going to be so happy!

my problem with fantasia is that she sings so hard from the beginning that there is no where to go. there is no rise to the song

and her riffs actually took me out, because most of them were un needed. you can't fully hit the notes that are there, so you scream everything?

and her celie had no growth as a person

she was great as young celie, and i actually loved her "lilly of the field" and "somebody gonna love you" but as a whole she was lacking

Fantasia didnt get picked over Jeanette for Broadway. They were starting tour rehearsals and they approached Jeanette, asking if she was interested in doing it, and she decided that shed rather tour than stay on Broadway. Only THEN was Fantasia ever though of. Get your facts straight. Still...there have been some times where Jeanette sounded better, and vice versa. And Jeanette certainly shows up more.
