The Box of Metal (tm) is an aggressive high-gain pedal with a highly-effective built-in switchable gate which dramatically reduces noise and unwanted feedback. it is available in Vexter (2 yr warranty) and hand-painted (lifetime warranty) versions. Its gain and tonal characteristics are somewhat simi liar to high-gain tube amps that have been the stable of hard rock and metal sounds since the 80s. On the right, there is a true-bypass switch with an indicator LED to bypass the entire effect. on the left is a gate switch which is only effective when the pedal is on (the gate can not be used separate) When the gate's LED (on the left) is ON the gate will be active whenever the pedal is turned on. The gate is very usefully for cleaning up any noise between palm muted chords and lead phrases, but may be switched off to initiate feedback or to stretch out soloed notes that are fading into noise ! Switching off and on the gate is silent so the gating action of the pedal can instantly be changed during any part of the performance to fluidly integrate soloing and palm muted chords !

The Controls

Gate - adjust for your playing style. When fully clockwise, palm-muting will create an audible thumb and bumping strings will open the gate. Turn down to make the gate tighter. Gate is unaffected by other controls.

Drive - Set the amount of distortion. The BOM DOES NO CLEAN UP ! This control goes from Hard to Rock Hard

Treble - Adjust Treble Content

Midrange - Adjust to accentuate or scoop out mids

Bass = Set the Bass/Sub Bass

Volume - set the overall volume of the unit

  • chect out blackstar distortion x

  • This demo sounded like shit until I listened to it with headphones

  • It should be renamed the Box of Really Really Heavy Rock. It's not a metal pedal AT ALL! Go get yourself a MXR Fullbore Metal, I played it through my dads Deluxe Reverb and it made it sound insane

  • This is a terrible pedal .

  • both sound fuzzy

  • yes... shit sound on fender....mesa is really better

  • I love this sound. Small video but great. Thanks

  • @danicgibson Sure it sounds good, but in my experience Fenders are best kept clean or maybe pushed into a little natural overdrive. If you cant afford a Mesa then theres a reason why Marshalls form the bedrock of Hardrock and Metal.

  • @ihavenoname93 I could not be more wrong? Coming from the guy who said 'like a fender take pedals better than marshalls'. For one, this is a stupid generalisation as it depends almost entirely on the exact pedal you are talking about. I stand by what I said, Fenders are voiced for articulate high end for the most part and are valved for this, Marshalls are traditionally higher gain and voiced to handle even greater input gain, their valves require more juice, that is proof enough.

  • @3rdIDCallaghan dude you could not be any more wrong. amps like a fender take pedals better than marshalls. besides the amount of gain an amp has has absolultely nothing to do with what kind of music it can be used for when you factor in pedals
