Nevermind the One Day at a Time. The REAL jewel here is the GE commercial. I had forgotten all about that one. Thank you for sharing it!

0:42 Bud Wiser produced the show? I thought it was only a sponsor.

At 0:19, you can tell by looking at Mackenzie's arms during her credit that she was quite thin. It was rumored that her clothes were padded to make her look heavier, too.

@Mr429guy - she was "in rehab" during most of this season. I thought she was fired during this season. The original opening had to be redone after the fourth episode as the writers had Julie marry Max and go off together so Mackenzie could "go to rehab", which she apparently did not do. After some time, she was fired, but returned in early 1981.

This was the season right before Mackenzie Phillips got fired the first time. Damn, Michael Lembeck looks good in a beard.

Bring Jesus to life.

Even with a beard, Michael Lembeck still looks like Kaptain Kool. A great actor, turned director.

@jenzeppelin I agree, it reminds me of those stupid Facebook ads where they try to turn one of your pictures into a crudely "drawn" caracature.

This is actually the second version of the 1979-1980 opening. In the first one, which only lasted four episodes or so, had various scenes of Indianapolis in the background with the stars drawings and pictures only - no episodical shots. From the fifth show onward, it was filled in with that green-blue background and had the other scenes inserted.

@Route41productions the last time I seen One Day at a Time was reran on WGN the final week of August of 1991. I would kill to see a full show!

@rlee1976 he's still alive as far as I know. Franklin and Harrington did a guest stint on the 91-92 primetime series "P.S. I luv u" with Connie Sellecca and Greg Evigan(a hart to hart theme show that I think ran maybe a season and a half)
i feel this is the worst intro of all the seasons. i don't like the way they look in the "paintings."

For me, it would have to be a tie between season six an season seven. Those two are not the greatest.
