@steveinjakarta ....we might have met indeed, I too moved to Earl's Court from north Lond in '68 to a bedsit in W Cromwell Rd...many colonials lived there, and was known as Kangaroo valley, lively it was too. The Courtfields is the pub opp Tube station in Earl's Court Rd, or The King's Head at the back thru Hogarth Rd.
The Coleherne was located in Old Brompton Rd and next door to it is The Troubadour Club which dates back 200 years and still going strong. The Coleherne is now The Pembroke.

@macvatu ...We must have crossed paths. I moved to London around 1968. I used to go to the same Pub. The one opposite Earls Ct Tube station. I rented a bedsit in Empress Place behind the Earls Court Exhibition.
Small world :)

@steveinjakarta . . .Danny was a really happy-go-lucky guy, nothing pretentious about him. I met him in a pub in Earl's Court, London, in the 70s with his lady friend. It was a jazz pub, The Coleherne, on Sunday afternoon when it was usually packed with jazz lovers. DW was the centre of attraction of course, and so was Jon Pertwee cracking jokes. Like Matt Monroe I reckon Danny should have been around earlier in the fifties, as more Rock Bands took over the scene in the 60s and 70s.

Thanks Vinyl... I saw Danny live in Gaumant Cinema/Theatre back in the 60's. He was a gentleman and had an awesome voice. Moon River has always been a favourite song of mine. I asked for his Autograph after his performance, back stage.
"Hey, mate, can I have your autograph?" Danny was amused by this and laughingly replied- " yeh, he calls me mate".... Nice guy. Just one of those moments in life that will be treasured.

I had the pleasure to meet Danny a year before his sad death,my daughter got to sing a duet with him at a gig that they shared in Stonehouse Glos. One beautiful and generous man.To me his version of Moonriver is the best ever.

Had the great pleasure of knowing Danny as a very young man in Port Elizabeth before he left for the U.K in the early sixties. One of the many talents from the friendly city in South Africa
