On July 14, 2009, Obama tells the country that he is responsible for the economy and memorably says, "Give it to me."

Since they are his own words, it is not a "put-down". He had his hands on the econmy before this video and afterwards. We are still better off than some countries out there, but we need to be better off than we were 5 or 10 years ago. Our measure of success should not be by others, but by ourselves. Gas prices have more than doubled since he became president, because he is antiBigOil. His nationalizing of businesses is destroying business.
