Unless Congress extends unemployment benefits, the checks of roughly a half-million Americans will run out by the end of month -- and more by the end of the year. Cynthia Bowers reports.

So sad that we act with lightning speed to bail out big corporations, but when it comes to the people that suffer from the corporate greed, we yet again have to bite the bullet. Take from the poor and give to the rich!!! Where is our Robin Hood?!

Here is an idea for you:

1. Screw welfare

2. Kick the ungodly number of foreigners/illegals out of your country.

3. get an equally ungodly number of guns to overthrow your government in order to change it

4. Create jobs for the people in your country from the jobs of the foreigners that were stealing all of the jobs from your national people in the first place.

5. Do away with welfare forever!

There, you now you a five step process to change the world. Have a nice day sonny!

This guy is toast. At 51 his chances of being hired at any job are poor. Sell the house and belongings, sell the car and then fly out of the country. It doesn't want you. Start over in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia....it doesn't matter. Staying in the U.S. will bring early death from stroke or heart attack due to the stress.

I was Laid off in 1981. Some say I got cancer as a result of the stress and depression. Some say I was lucky to get cancer and become disabled, without dying. Not my recommendation. What I do not understand is how we have money to give to other countries, but when it comes to Americans, suddenly we have no money?

I wonder how many Americans being laid off are Republican voters, ie they voted for the very system that isnow making them lose their jobs.

Let me tell you the length they say you can collect unemployment is BS. I just opened a new claim and can only get 17.5 weeks of regular unemployment instead of the full 26 weeks. This is based on wages earned and I qualified for 80% of the 26 weeks. I worked a full time seasonal job this summer, that ended on 10-02-09. Goes by earnings in 4 different quarters. I am very thankful for what i got , but 26 weeks is a more secure feeling up north here in a snow bank.
