  • I'm wondering what do you use to drive the escapements? Do you use clock weights?

  • Yes, I use a weight. Attached to it is a thin wire whose other end is wound around a pulley on the axis of the wheel. To allow the weight to drop below the level of the supporting table, the wire is guided over a second pulley at the far left of the image (you can see a small part of the wire in the lower left corner; it is better visible on the other videos. To find the correct weight, I use a small bucket and fill it gradually with water.

  • There are better ones, see, e.g. horolophile. However, I prefer my own, versatile, solution.

  • Very nice!

  • I think I am starting to get an idea of how most of these work... some are really confusing.

  • i'm always on the lookout for new parts to incorporate into my designs. keeping the escape wheel as light as possible is paramount for me.
