@Perroquet51 I'd be interested in seeing a video about this. Generally I'd like to see more videos by LGBTs addressing issues within our community, Don't let your straight friends put you off :p
I TRY to buy US made goods, but it's incredibly hard...we've MADE it hard by falling victims to the "cheap" train of thought. Always lookin for the "deal" and never thinking about the "made in..." sticker on the bottom. Sadly, I bet the majority of Americans don't really care where it's made as long as they get it and get it for the cheapest possible price...those selling to us KNOW this and use it against us, laughing all the way to the bank.
We are stuck between a rock and a corporate hard place. I agree that we have the power to change our economy, but when a 20 dollar savings means the difference between having enough and not...it becomes difficult for people to avoid shopping at Walmart or buying products made in China. The big corps need to bring their employees back to the US.
@livinginlux I think this is the first time that I've heard a gay man refer to his partner as his "husband". This has been a troublesome issue for me for quite a while but I haven't gotten my thoughts together enough to address it in a video. Partly because several of my straight friends have disagreed with my assessment of its implications.
Excellent! You hit the nail on the head when you said, "stay and be part of the solution..." That is good advice that can be a applied to many situations. Very well said, Steph.
YOu are so right, here in Canada, we have Winners, which sells quality products, good products, all made in China, or somewhere else, and some things made in England. There is hardly anything made in Canada or USA, and if there are, they are very expensive, I think the old days, where they sold lots of things made in Canada and USA were better days, people didn't have a lot of money, and they didn't get rich, but they had jobs enough to put a roof over their head and food in their stomach.
I don't like cheaply made, from another country, stuff. I can't shop at WalMart because we don't have one (gasp), but if we did, I wouldn't go there anyway. I'm one of those poor people who shops at my local vendors. I don't shop much. lol
Absolutely fuckin' right Steph.
HAPPY NEW YEAR BABY!
Luv and kisses,
