In New York, the comfort factor drives fashion. In the French capital it's all about status and taste, regardless of discomfort.

  • I'm Japanese pianist and I live in Paris. I was in NY. AND I love shoes, flat, heels or galoshes whatever shoes boots.

And I had a really interesting experience in NY.

In a Zabar's, in a concert hall everywhere, so many times, many people (only women!!!) came to me and they said "I like your shoes it look wonderful" No matter if I wear flats or heels. Their eyes are widely open to shoes!

In Paris, it would never happens somehow. And I thought women in NY are more supportive each other

  • Then don't come here.

  • this is a bad video from new york i dont like new yorks people

  • @dereli0480 :) Hilarious!

  • I like heels~

  • @rofoliem oh, you're soo right. what ever was i thinking? i think i will get over myself, and then i'll become a self-righteous pseudo-progressive like you. note to self--ignorant and annoying comments: UNcool; being self-righteous: COOL

  • @sutra46

My comment was satirical, that's my shtick..... I like the NYTimes :)

  • @sliderglider it's fashion commentary, go watch something else to feel superior.

  • @LITTLER0CKAR I think YOU should get a clue and get over yourself. Its comments like this that make other nations hate Americans. Its not about one being better than the other, its about appreciating the differences and respecting the cultural differences. This comment was ignorant and annoying. GET OVER YOURSELF.

  • Yes of course there is a comfort factor but people don't wear heels because they're pretty to look at even though they are, people wear heels because they make you look better, taller, more skinny, and confident.
