I actually liked Aerie BECAUSE she cried and whine all the time. Maybe it's because of the whole "abused victim" complex I have going on but I'm all down for insecure, crying chicks.

I never got the hate that so many people had for Aeire.
Yeah, she whines a bit, but she put almost her entire personal pride in her beatuy and her wings, and then they were ripped away from her in an experience that would be understated to be called traumatic.
And clearly they never saw, a through a relationship with her you could make her a better, stonger person, while she helped maintain your innocence.
And isn't improving yourself and your partner what a relationship is about?
