I had the honor (and the pleasure) to see him few months ago in Berlin after a Simon Boccanegra performance and it's a treasured memory too. Even if I didn't get a hug ;-)

Impresionante voz la de Domingo y la de Scotto también, aunque yo prefiero a la Freni

I am going to listen to this recording tonight and I expect to spend a wonderful evening :-))) I started being a bit "tired" of Scotto with whom Plácido was paired in so many recordings but her voice sounds beautiful here and the interpretation is very touching.
As for him, what could be said ? That he deserved to become el Rey de los tenores, well, he did ;-) Warm regards, Esther

Thank you Esther, for the very warm comment. I always loved the tears just behind Scotto's voice and I agree with you about Placido. I had the honor of seeing him in concert years ago and that memory keeps me warm years later. C.

I'm no spring chick, but since I was 14 I have seen most of the operas & have a huge collection
of records, tapes & CDs. I have met De Stefano,
Pavarfotti & Carreras(nothing big, just moments
before their concerts!) I love music, but great
voices are really special.

They are, indeed, carolus and I must add your list to mine, plus Gedda, of course. My big moment was when my sister and I met Placido in the green room after a concert. We gave him a rose and he gave us hugs Haven't washed my body since. (JOKE>>>yes, I have, sigh) C.

What? No other comments? This is good as it gets! Domingo beats all the others in rich
purity of tone. Easily the ' manliest' tenor in this role.

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I also am amazed at the lack of comments. He and Jussi stand on the top, in my opinion. C.
