It was made by ancient people for specific reason and purpose. Science is the discovery of reality, and we are still learning. It is very sad that we are killing one another in the name of religion or ism that were introduced to us. I guess, certain aspect of ancient civilization may not be so dumb found like modern men. The sea level had been at that lower level for most of the pervious 2,000,000 years of the Ice Age(s).
Earlier, according to Exxon surveys, and for most of the Earth's history, there have been no glaciers or polar ice and the sea level has been over 200 foot higher than it is today.
