wrestling is key in scrambles on the feet or on the ground. jiu jitsu is the art of superior position leading to the submission. granby rolls.... switches.... sit throughs are all wreslting moves that are currently used alot in mma and jiu jitsu. wrestling isnt crap on the ground... just not as applicable and effective as jiu jitsu.

Im a collegiate wrestler...no formal training in BBJ, but ive made plenty of BBJ bluebelts tap. Its catch boys... CATCH. SUBMISSION OVER POSITION. and modern pankration is just MMA with a hyped name.

Also, BJJ NEVER said it was the mother of MA or that it invented MA, many of us agree with the theory that Pnkration is the precursor to ALL modern martial arts, but BJJ has proven itself superior in MMAand events like ADCC. Plus modern pankration is bullshit made up by old Greek dudes using wrestling BJJ and shoot wrestling. Classic wrestling is also used in BJJ for takedowns, but on the ground it is crap.

VEry true MANY "mcdojos" are using not only the BJJ but also the MMA craze for profit, TIger Sholman's is a great example. But BJJis king, not JUST in ADCC but MMA and even Sambo competitions, look up Justin Garcia who is a pure BJJ guy, he won the Sambo championship belt. When Sambo & BJJ compete BJJ wins.And NO they would NOT cry foul to a new technique they would simply lose and learn from it. ALL leg locks in BJJ are from Sambo Rolls Gracie added them, as well as a lot of judo and wrestling.

If you can't see the major differences between judo and BJJ you're blind. Judo is cool, great for takedowns, and has some nice ground techniques but BJJ's set-ups and fluid segways are very different. THe Gracies DID revolutionize MAs and BJJ dominated ALL from the Gracie challenge fights to the early UFC and even today where EVERONE trains BJJ in order to survive in MMA.

Good video. Does his T shirt show a lemmon wrestling a orange? Who do you think would win that match up? My money is on the lemmon. I know the orange has a lower centre of gravity but the lemmons sour on the inside so he is more mean.
