Half-Life 1 beta gameplay and interviews

A collection of a few interviews from Valve developers and some gameplay for the old HL1 beta. Yes, it is very different from the release version, but it is HL1.

As many people have noticed, there's no HUD. This is because the videos were shot professionally by Valve. They remove the HUD in most of their gameplay videos to make things seem cleaner. No, there are no HEV suit gloves on the player, but the HEV suit was pretty much always part of the players overall design, even when Gordon was still "Ivan".

sometimes i wonder how they can afford to produce and, eventually, throw away all of that content and still drive a successful business: i haven't noticed a single level in this video that made it into the actual game, and a lot of the assets look completely different. as long as it works for them, i suppose.

@Matsilagi modded ID tech2, for example, both use .bsp for their maps, and you can run quake 2 maps in HL1

So much fuss about a simple stuff like ricochet for example. "Every time You play You find different events happening" was probably true until they made things scripted. Hairy guy was fine, though. :)
