"How to Use Movie Maker Effects". WMM version 6 with Vista. Basic Tutorial For Beginners. Be creative with your movie. Easy steps, ideas, demos and creativity to add Special "Effects" and Transitions to your videos. Movie Maker version 6.0. Earlier versions will not have as many Special "Effects" choices. This version comes with Windows Vista.

Steps to use "Movie Maker Effects":

(1) For "Effects" click on Tools on the menu, then Effects. When the Effects screen opens drag an Effect to a clip on the Storyboard and click Play to see what the Effect does.

Some of the Effects pan across the photos, zoom in or zoom out, slow down or speed up the viewing time, create a multi hued spectrum of color, create a ripple effect, create a sepia tint and so on.

(2) Transitions give animation to the movement as the clip changes. For instance, the next clip might appear by spinning in, or there might be a page curl transition. For Transitions click Tools on the menu then Transitions. The screen will open with many choices. You can drag a Transition to one of the empty boxes between clips and click Play to watch it and experiment.

Transitions between clips are available to open the next clip in a Spin, Roll, Page Curl, Flip and more.

The next video deals with Adding Music to your movie. The series includes the following: Ch. 1 Import Media, Ch. 2 Storyboard and Timeline, Ch. 3 Text and Titles, Ch. 4 Special Effects, Transitions, Ch. 5 Adding and Importing Music, Ch. 6 Publishing the Movie on Your Computer and Uploading It to YouTube.

  • I believe it's called just that, Ripple. Go to Tools, Effects, and as you scroll through you'll see it. Remember this is for the version of WMM that came with Vista so if you're using Windows Live with Windows 7 the version is not the same and there are differences in the software.

  • Go to Effects under Tools after clicking on a photo to choose it. You'll find a ton of effects for panning from left to right, up to down, etc. Good luck. Be sure you're using the Windows Movie Maker that came with Vista as it's different in other versions.

  • The music is from the Positive Feelings collection at Partners in Rhyme. This comments section won't let me add the website but just use their name and add the dot com.

  • There are a variety of places to download it. Do a search for Windows Movie Maker 6.0 on google and check out the results. I haven't tried downloading it but the results look like they will be helpful. Good luck.

  • The video was made by using a camcorder, uploading the video clips from the camcorder to the computer, importing them into Windows Movie Maker, then editing the clips. Because it was made several years ago, with older resolution, it does not fit the newer youtube screen which is for high resolution, so youtube puts black around it to fill in the space. If you upload high resolution that space is filled by the video.
