An gathering of the greatest voices of the 20th century, and possibly, of all time. I remember them all. I 'tuned' my ear listening to these greats every Monday night on The Voice of Firestone and The Bell Telephone Hour. Singers come and go, but the artists go on forever. Eleanor Steber was and still is the greatest!

I sang with the great Jerry Hines in NJ back in the 80s - he was kind to a young tenor who asked him to sign his book- I remember his noble sound and his joy in singing.

Steber was great! Thanks so much for this!

Steber had such a big, flexible, silvery
voice with a superbly lyrical vocal line!
Her Lucia is eloquently interpreted in
this stunning sextet! Stevens is glorious,
as always! Thank you!

Thank you. Steber was so versatile. I have her on LP singing a first rate version of "Una Voce Poco Fa" from 1946 John

Wonderful! Bravo! I love Steber - what a great singer.

Onegin65. You post the most awesome recordings of the best singers out there. Are you a singer yourself or just an opera lover? Thanks for all you do!!!!
-
Steber was one of those under-appreciated singers who never had the international career she should have had. The woman could sing EVERYTHING well.

What a stunning Lucia!!! Move over, Amelita Galli-Curci--you've met your match!

How simply beautiful... It's like the Milanov act 4 Gilda with oscanini. It's so nice to hear singers in roles they may have never tackled in the theater.
