This is not the 1st version of the movie. The 1st version was a silent movie and was being showed when the titanic hit an iceberg, kinda ironicly.

I'm gonna straighten out all you guys who are saying that this couldn't happen. First of all the captain says the ship was low on ballast. The wave that hit the Poseidon was NOT a tsunami. It was a rouge wave, which DO exist and can be generated by underwater earthquakes (which is mentioned in the film). So, the Poseidon, was low on ballast, and was struck by a rouge wave(which is also called a tidal wave) and capsized. Happy?

This is one darn good film. Even with the special effects of the remake, none could match this. I mean, come on, you put Gene Hackman and Ernest Borgnine together and there's bound to be a great result.

Not as good as the remake????? Oh my god, you must be a young person because the original had so much atmosphere and you actually cared about the characters. The new one had plenty of CGI, but will never light a candle to the first one. I never felt for the people in the new one that I did in the first one.
