This does not mean "stop thinking". Just simply being there in awareness as the thoughts arise and maintaining your focus single pointedly not allowing yourself to attach to these thoughts or expand upon them. Try that first and foremost and work slowly towards the posturing. You can do what I just described in any position. I am no expert however and the best thing you could do if at all possible is to find a qualified teacher to guide through your practice. Best of luck.

No need to force your body into positions that cause pain or discomfort. It is necessary to take it slowly. Just try what you can with the physical side of the practice and put most of your effort into calming your mind. ***DO NOT FORCE YOUR LEGS INTO THE LOTUS POSITION IF YOU CANNOT DO IT!*** You can injure yourself if you are too forceful. Most important is calming the mind.

Sorry about the low quality. Actually, this was just an experiment between Rinpoche and myself. The narration was also not supposed to be like that but, since it was an experiment, we didn't spend too much time on this. Because we are in the Himalayas, the internet is not totally reliable, or very fast. So, we lowered the quality to make the file smaller for uploading.

my legs arent flexible enough to get my ankles at my thigh is it neccesary or can i just cross my legs

The Lotus position is not necessary. It would be helpful if you would place one ankle at a time on your thigh alternating every so often. If you do this over a long period of time you will eventually be able to sit in the lotus posture. Never force yourself and take it slowly. Crossing your legs is absolutely fine. There is a reason for the posture but the most important thing about meditation at the beginning is learning to just be there, be aware and settle your mind.
