No GFX as that's my area of expertise and I get too carried away, so I have to complete the engine before I move onto that step.

This will be a South Park game, I'm not sure what about etc, but basically the engine is almost there.

AI works, but I have yet to create an inteligent move to area AI, Rather than have mindless enemies bouncing against a room wall I aim to create a route system, but right now it's rather mindless.

The Fog of War is based on the Light and Shadow engine by Anders Riggelsen (amazing guy), altered to enable scrolling, be less intensive, use transparency, cover the map and effect enemy visability etc. So it's now only slightly based on his awesome tutorial.

The AI is an expansion on the AI in SPy2 (a game I worked on about 8[??] years ago), by resizing the sight objects it gives off a cone and this applies to coridors etc too. There's also a very crude stairs feature in there too.

I have a 360 shooting engine I aim to combine it with and I'm not sure if it need the WASD FPS movement or a regular 4 direction top-down movement.

There's also a MGS style corner peer system in place, but I forgot to show that.

Half way through the video I switch to the fully visable version that shows all the AI markers and objects. Also half way through the first part I kick in the long distance sight move which reveals the whole area except obscured from view items.

Did you do a game with it....

  • How did you get the overlay object to follow the play area? I'm having trouble with this.

  • @InfamousG26

Search "Dynamic 2D Soft Shadows" on GameDev(dot)net.

That's what you are looking for. Implemented it into my game last week. :)

  • MMF2 Multimedia Fusion 2

  • I don't use MMF2 and I would like to see the source code to this if possible. Is there a way that you could send me a message with the source code in it? I only need the light and shadow source because I'm not a math wiz
