The fourth part of my video blog on A Song of Ice and Fire, the series by George RR Martin. This time I discuss the delivery of the fifth book, A Dance with Dragons, and the complaints surrounding its lateness.

  • HERO-WORSHIPPER!! :P

anyway, why dont you point out the fact that there are other very good books to read as well... GRRM a while back posted a few authors he told his fans to read, whom he admired and liked. there are plenty of epic fantasy stuff that is good. im not too fussed. plenty of other stuff to read before the next book comes out.

  • Good point. People could even find other things to do- there is more to life than books, as good as they are.

  • The only Thing that i hated In Dance of Dragons was the ending i mean i started to worm up to Kevan Lannister

  • @outforsushi What the hell are you talking about that book was great especialy the chapters about Dorne

  • after feast of crow, a lot of fans have lost faith

  • The fact of the matter is that he told his readers that a dance with Dragons was to be the second half of a book that had become too big to be published as a whole. Lies. We the readers don't have a legal contract with him, but we expected some sort of committment. Instead he seems to be off making money from conventions calendars and movies rights. His blog barely even mentions the book anymore, and he screens any critical comments.

Writers, at the end of the day are supposed to write.

  • George will die older then Maester Aemon I hope, but i'm still afraid he whont finnish the books befor that ;P

  • @NovaTheReaper Absolutely agree. My personal worry is that Dance is going to be in the same position as Feast was - only worse. It will be crushed under the weight of expectation and people will be unable to view it objectively.

  • While things have been slightly out of proportion, the main problem people have with the 6 year gap is that the book was supposedly already pretty much complete upon feast's publication, because it was the other half of the original book that was split in half.

If the book was already complete, it shouldn't take 6 years to work out the kinks unless he completely scrapped the original and built from scratch.

  • Ride the Lightning \m/

  • People are worried because GRRM is not fit and how well he is only he and his doctor would know =). I am willing to wait a long time for him to finish the series but a fear of mine is he will die before its completed. We all want to know how the series turns out and the only true person who can do it is him.

  • There will be come a time that this book series will be seen as an absolute masterpiece. Because it is a goddamn masterpiece. Best book i've ever read! Period!
