Agbowa camp is an hour drive from Ikorodu where six communities affected by flood two months are being sheltered. A temporary provision by the lagos state government pending when the situation gets better .Yes, the camp is relatively clean but the victims say the lack electricity, potable water and their rooms are congested. They also get free food three times daily but usually not what they would have prefered to eat if they had a choice.Concerned Nigerians we were told visit them regularly with gift items but the officials in charge of the camp would sort out the goods and keep the best.
It was a pitiable site to see so many children eager under the sun struggling to have their share of the general meal not sure what would be served. The story was broadcast on 17/11/2010
I must commend the efforts of Fashola on this, even though I believe more can still be done to improve lives of the inmates. One thing is, he has shown that lagos state has stood up to caring for it's citizens
