Pat Sajak, best known as host of the American game show, Wheel of Fortune, was the afternoon air personality on WSM radio in Nashville in the early-mid 70s, where he also did weather on sister television station, Channel 4. Here's a fine snippet of his afternoon radio show on the big 50,000 watt WSM radio 650 from 1975. Note: WSM's format was full-service adult contemporary during the day and only country at night until 1980, when it went full-time country.

  • It's weird hearing that type of music coming from WSM. I know it wasn't always an all country station, but it just seems weird.

  • Actually, it's "Do The Hustle," and yeah, odd to hear it on the country music mecca of the universe, WSM.

  • Interesting to hear "Do The Shuffle", a disco icon, on WSM after being used to listening to legendary country and the Grand Ole Opry on this station.

  • never knew the man behind WOF was on the big 65!
