Belly of the World was born of the Pixelfarmers as they participated in the 48 Hour Film Project that came to Cincinnati August 8-10, 2003. The group, brought together by lead producer/DP Mark Stucker, included a mix of professionals and volunteer talent. The team collaborated to produce a short film in the science fiction genre. All production was completed in a 48 hour time frame.
The project kicked off at 7:00 PM Friday, Aug. 8th at Northern Kentucky University where representatives from 23 teams each pulled a film genre out of a hat. Teams were required to make a 5 to 10 minute film in the genre they'd randomly selected. The teams were also required to include a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue, also selected at the kickoff event. These were the same for all the Cincinnati teams. Pixelfarmers ended up winning :Best Costumes, Best Use of Character, Best Use of Prop and tied Overall Audience Appreciation Award -Group B
