They're not able to walk completely upright like humans because primates don't have locking knees which means they can't straighten their legs all the way.

Um, because their primary mode of locomotion is by VCL, and thus their bodes are physiologically adapted to jumping from branch to branch. Hopping around on the ground is the most efficient and quickest way for them to move even when they are on the ground. I have seen them move bipedally, but they are a bit awkward at it. So hopping on the ground > walking as a biped on the ground.

And I have started to work with sifakas in captivity; they move like that even when they are inside and the ground is not hot.
