Another nice thing from the past. The phone rang. Some news guy had seen my flier and wanted to do a feature. They came out to my house, and also my office. The newscaster is clueless, obviously, but that's the harp,
lotsa love, little respect. The music playing in my office is from my cassette of instrumentals, Westward Vision.

  • I would love to come to Holland! Why don't you guys bring me over there? Jon

  • Hey Jon,

This is very cool. You couldn't buy advertising this good for any amount of money. What year was this made? Looks like you were doing "Jam Camps" back then too. Don't ever stop...you're the best!

    Mike Stevenson

  • It was made, in maybe, 1993. Before Harmonica Americana. You can tell it was before I really caught the blues bug, though I was 2nd and 3rd

bigtime. I liked playing off the mic instead of cupping. The Harmonica Store never did "go public" by the way. It closed, and Marv passed away. He was about 90 when the video was made.

  • ill save to come to jam camp!!

  • Check out "Country and Blues Harmonica for the Musically Hopeless" from Klutz Press. It taught me the basics I needed to become a harp blowin' fool. Also, as a precautionary note, listen to Jimmy Buffett's song "Fool Button" on the "Son of a Son of a Sailor" album.

  • Never really cared about playing music but now I got this bug that I need to play the harmonica like Jon Gindick. I'm hooked. It's like sax, like flute and accordion and it's very saxy and very sexy music. A very special way to relax and enjoy, to smell the roses. Thanks Jon!

  • Just ran across this video, Jon. Great piece. You're "Musically Hopeless" set got me started on this terrific journey two decades ago. And there's no end in sight. Keep up the good work!

  • fascinating :)

  • is the Harmonica store still around?? how could you really compete with online

  • Interesting and thank you.

  • thats my dad!

  • LOL! I'm reading the book right now and it's friggin awesome.

  • Newscasters or "journalists" are all clueless it seems. Propaganda anyone?
