Vampire Hunter D was one of the 1st animes that got me into anime. He will truly be missed, but his work will live on.

Saraba, Toyoo Ashida (1944-2011) :(. The director of The FIst of the North Star Movie, TV series and Vampire Hunter D. I'm glad I just watched the series and read the manga of Fist of the North Star last year. You will be dearly missed, but your great work will live forever in our memories.

Damn that sucks. I may not be a huge fan of Vampire Hunter D. But I can't deny that it is sad for someone in the anime industry to die.
