I live near a station I hear the squeaking wheels every half-hour...

As a current network rail employee, and 18 years on the railway in total, i can tell anybody that watches this interesting video that these barriers weigh a ton when they fail and you have to put the crossing on local control and raise/lower them by hand!, arms like popeye! LOL!
