  • Porn industry helped Blu Ray win the format war!

  • @koneye - it may be called bundling, but it still doesn't add up, it's false economics. In the PS3s case then yeah they have done it for a specific reason and expect to recoup on losses.

The mechanisation of farming and related - a major false economy on a global scale.

  • @utubearenazis - it's bad enough with some DVDs compared to video - some of them won't let you skip past adverts and trailers and other shit, some only let you ffwd.......but I don't know, maybe you stream films from a place where you can watch what parts of it when you want? And if the link drops (or your computer crashes or whatever) then you can pick up watching it from where it died?

  • @utubearenazis - more places are fibred up, but it's not as if bps is enough everywhere to even consider downloading a 4+ GB file (movie sized) - then there's allowances, sure many cheaper ISPs are 'unlimited' but in practice that isn't always the case, plus those ISPs tend to be majorly traffic-shaped.

I'm not up on costs of streaming a new release film - but my expereince of watching freebies is that it's way shitter cause you can't pause, and if the link drops you have to start all over.

  • who needs blu-ray at the cheap streaming/sd cards/hard-drives?

  • It is called bundling , if you strip any machine the number of solo parts always cost more than the final product

  • Thought I'd point out that sony was openly saying they were selling them for less than cost to make. :3
