Photographs of the re-enactment of the first French and German settlers to Akaroa new Zealand. They came ashore in a southerly gale in August 1840, after sailing from le Havre in France. In Akaroa, we celebrate their arrival with a bi-annual French Festival. The sailing vessel used to re-enact the landing is the classic sailing yacht SV Manutara.
