NDM-1 "Superbug": Should You Be Scared?

There is a new superbug on the loose called NDM-1. It is actually a genetic change that occurs in a bacteria that makes it anti-biotic resistant. So, how worried should you be? Here's what I think.

@ninivenne My husband, as someone who is paraplegic, is especially prone to UTIs and I cannot speak for everyone but in our experience it has worked very well. He had some infections that were so bad his piss looked like chicken soup with goop in it and it still cleared up with nothing but cranberry. He hasn't used antibiotics in years since we discovered this alternative.

@ninivenne Here are the facts: Cochrane Database systematic review found no randomized trials assessing the effectiveness of cranberry juice in the treatment of UTIs and concluded that there is no evidence to support its use.

More recently, a trial showed juice and extract were effective for prevention. NO research has done on effectiveness for cure. That doesn't mean it doesn't work, that means it hasn't been studied. Probably because there is no money in it.

Okay bloggers, apparently much of the "haters" are people that are not very smart. Do your homework... it does the brain good! Cranberry pills work tremendously! I am a nurse and know this for a fact! I use it and it works for me. And whoever is calling people useless eaters??? coldHF, It's taking a pretty blind risk by ingesting something to which the medical risks and benefits are unknown. There's no good reason to accept alternative practices. Colloidal silver can lead to argyria — which causes the skin to turn blue due to a build up of it in the skin. It can also bind to other substances, reducing the effectiveness of medications. The body doesn't seem to be able to metabolise metal. Like with large fish containing mercury, they eat the small fish & it builds up.
