John 12: 4-6 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Ask someone in a poorer country, who has been through the temple, if it was money well spent. The answer will be a resounding YES! The gospel of Jesus Christ, including temple covenants, take the slums out of the people's hearts and they in turn take themselves out of the slums.

@OrganNLou I certainly appreciate your concern. It must be known however, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has provided humanitarian aid to over 158 different countries, and during the Gulf War even the Red Cross sent supplies on The churches trucks and ships, because some of the countries would allow the Mormons in, but NOT the Red Cross. THAT tells you how much and how trusted the church is, in terms of Charity.

none of the funding for building temples comes from tithing and temples budget are comming from donation from members particiulary for temples. LDS church is always is first to provide help for needy.

@OrganNLou Mormons give millions in charity for their own poor and in the wider community. Temple construction does not detract from that.
