Namco's Cyber Lead is a Japanese JVS format candy cabinet with an awesome LED "marquee" at the top. Generic attract messages and brief sprite demos are programmed into the cabinet for display during gameplay. Some games, however, specifically output LED graphics that correspond directly to gameplay as it's happening. This is a demo of how Tekken 3 interfaces with the LED panel.

Note that the names of different moves are being displayed (in Japanese) as they happen, and that the little avatar characters move back and forth depending upon who is winning the round!

Other PCBs that support the LED panel include Soul Calibur, Mr Driller, and Smash Court tennis. I'll upload new videos as I'm able to track them down.

If anyone knows about any other games that output custom displays to the LED panel, please let me know!

  • Except this LED feature this cabinet is kinda mediocre since you cannot install the monitor vertical wise.

  • That's why I have a separate cabinet that I leave vertical. :)

Monitor rotating sounds awesome but at the end of the day it's kinda annoying. Egrets and other cabs with the wheel mechanism aren't super-quick to rotate because you have to switch the bezel around on them. I've had cabs with rotating monitors, but I'm much happier having a separate cab devoted to each orientation.

  • Of course if you only have room for one, getting one that rotates is a good idea. I knew I wanted separate cabs for horiz/vert, and I'm a huge Namco fan, so getting the Cyber Lead as my permanent horiz cab was a no-brainer for me!

  • "Good morning"

  • That is awesome. Just like a pinball machine! Also the Good Morning never gets old. They still use it on the Tekken 6 cabinets!

  • LOL@ the fighting dinosaurs, thats awesome!

  • lol funny they use Roger fighting against Alex (Alex is the second costume to the original RogeR)

  • i would love to have a cab like that~1

  • I'm looking to purchase one of these very soon, how's the sound quality on the cabinet?

  • Does it work with the same on US Tekken 3 boards? (mine doesn't say good morning it just grunts)

I must admit I have a t3 standup and noticed the board was JVS but didn't think to look for a cyberlead output.

-Darien, Only got the astro city anyway but just in case I get one.

  • Great!
