While interviewing Kirei at this year's Greenbuild, we stumbled upon an amazing green countertop. Squak Mountain Stone is a fibrous-cement material comprised of recycled paper, recycled glass, coal fly-ash and cement. The material resembles soapstone or limestones and is hand-cast into slabs as an alternative to natural or quarried stone. On display were the Squak product with its more rustic look and the Trinity product, a product similar in construction to the Squak but with a more polished look. We interviewed Amee Quiriconi, founder and inventor of Squak Mountain Stone, about this beautiful sustainable product. Hear her amazing story all the way from concept to final product, and check out examples of this beautiful product in the video above.
