http://www.joblo.com - Andy Serkis Hologram Cover for Oscar Nomination
A special video showing the latest issue of "The Hollywood Reporter" and the hologram cover showing Andy Serkis' transformation from the performance capture to becoming Caesar from "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".
@irfonW The difference here is if the animators choose to (and sometimes they have to) they can throw out all of Serkis' "acting" and put in their own, there is no true way of knowing how much of what is seen on screen is actually Serkis' work without seeing the raw Mo-Cap shoot side by side with the final image on screen.
I still think he should be nominated, I'm just saying 99.99% of the world has no idea how much of that performance was actually his.

@erockFX So those that make prosthetic should not be down played? and let's be honest, Andy's talking about the acting side of the character. If another actor played the role it would be very different. He's not saying I did all the work. He's just saying to him it's just like acting with out visual effects. Also, it's very likely the film will win visual effects anyway...so they'll be recognised

I agree Andy Serkis should be nominated, however he should not be down playing the contributions of the several hundreds of other people that helped make a character like Caesar. To make it sound like all you do is hit a button and the computer does the rest is an insult to computer artists everywhere.
If he is nominated he should be nominated with the supervising animator as well, as the acting is just as much (if not more so) a result of his contributions as it is Andy's.

I hope this will be the moment!
P.S: Andy Serkis was the best actor in the amazing Rise of the Planet of the Apes (he was the real leading actor, although James Franco was simply good)! He deserves to be nominated!

god. serkis NEEEDS an oscar. grrr it makes me sick to the bone that he's had, basically, no awards for anything he's done. he faces bigger obstacles than any other actors out there, and he still manages to out-act them. ARG!
