Cool!!! This engine was used on the Nickel Plate Road Cloverleaf in central Indiana in the '80s and '90s. It was owned by the Central Railroad of Indianapolis. It was usually on the job in Kokomo, IN, which is where I have one house currently. Kokomo has almost no train traffic at all today. "Tracks out of Service" signs are everywhere. It's a shame I didn't get to see the CERA in its glory days.
And heck yeah!! Awesome-sounding P3!

When I was up there over the summer, she had a K3LA up there. I'm sure that sounds a little more melodious.

Nice video of a great old cast horn. Old cast P's are so much better than the new cast ones.

Ah the classic old casting P3, nothing like it! To me that's the old Southern Pacific (SP) sound! Sure both old and new casting
P3's were part of SP but to me the old casting P3 is the true authentic SP sound! SP was the line that ruled the rails where I grew up, basically in the area of Texas known as Liberty County where I've lived since spring of 1988,vwhen I was in 5th grade.
