" Pokum paathai dhoorame vaazhum kaalam konchame jeeva sukham pera raaga nadhiyinil nee neentha vaa"
(The way to be travelled is very long, but our life is really short // Oh my sweetheart join me fast, to swim in the river of worldly pleasures)...!! Nice lines rich with passion and optimism, and with the touch of the concern about time - similar in meaning to that of "Had we but world enough, and time,
This coyness, lady, were no crime." by Andrew Marvell in his poem "To his Coy Mistress".

This is one of my favourite and evergreen composition of Maestro Ilayaraja. Love to present always on stage.

@MiamiSimon Please! Tamil Film Music would have reigned supreme as always - you are talking as if IR is the only genius out there.

I wonder what would have happened to South Indian Cinema without this Genius, We should be very grateful for his contribution. We would not have AR Rahman either without him. Timeless Music!

He is a genius.. since he struck to south indian films largely, he never got d attention from rest of india and infact he wasn't atall considered to be given a CIVILIAN award from Govt of India even after he prevails to be THE FIRST INDIAN COMPOSER TO SCORE A "SYMPHONY" !!!
What a pity?

"இந்த தேகம் மறைந்தாலும் இசையாய் மலர்வேன்" , "எந்தன் மூச்சும் இந்த பாட்டும் அணையா விளக்கே "
இந்த இரண்டு வரிகளும் இளையராஜாக்கும் பாலுவுக்கும் மட்டுமே பொருந்தும்
