Shuai Chiao is the oldest Chinese martial art at 5000 years old it relies on uprooting and a push and pull motion commonly seen in Chinese styles. There are no sacrifice throws like in Judo but all throws are performed standing.

  • Well, you could easily look up a video of shuai jiao in a tournament style setting rather than viewing demonstrations. Just because you are seeing a demonstration against a compliant partner doesn't mean it's useless. There are many videos of boxing, BJJ against a compliant partner on youtube are you going to comment on every single one saying it's useless? When I attend my BJJ class we always start out learning against a compliant partner before we start rolling.

  • this is shaolin kung fu or just kung fu?

  • Shuai Jiao is the oldest of kung fu styles. It preceeds The founding of the shaolin temple.

  • can i ask you a question what is it with people teaching "shaolin kung fu or kung fu in general " and wearing japanese gi's?

  • Actually these are not gi's the shuai jiao jackets are custom made by Master David Lin in Atlanta. The jackets made in China are red and blue and reversible but are costly. If you look closely, the jackets do not fold over like the japanese style, also they are short sleeve, and the waist is much higher. in Mongolia, they wear armbands and thong like shorts. Did you get a chance to see the traditional videos on my page. Please look if you really want to see traditional kung fu.

  • @Brazilianjj

    it's called a demonstration smart guy. They're supposed to go 1/4 speed in order to make it easy for you to see the techniques.

    Obviously they wouldn't expect real life opponents to be going 1/4 speed.

  • @nomamao oooooh yeah your right!!!

  • @xTiger251 that's the uniform of the shuai jiao player. The sash wouldn't take all the abuse the belt does in a day to day practice.

  • why do you wear belts insted of a sash??

  • Wow...just...Wow.

  • keep showing what you have an stick too it ! who cares what they say its just talk is shows what you can do and it good! and keep true arts alive, Look at it like this . the judo jacket why is it longer than the shuai jiao jacket ? simple cano the founder of judo modified it for his art it . and it has a different denention in the throws!

  • keep it mind most people now days are really stupid .Do to the fact they know nothing on martial history and how and why arts are created . Just about how hey can fight in a cage or MMA . which really is a half of a art . its very typical to get comments like you get but most are very not so brite at all . there are 5 element to making a art complete! If you look at the bubishi the chinese one then look at the japanese version given to japan . an then you will understand jj judo karate etc!

  • Judo and Silat guy here. love it!

  • Shuai Chiao -> 摔角或摔跤

  • Why do fools always comment on demonstration videos of a Martial Art just to tell us how useless it would be in a real fight? It would make sense if they did it in a video that tried to demonstrate "Self Defense" techniques using a Martial Art but I don't believe that is the case here.
