Within a couple of minutes of watching this 6 foot+ Timber Rattler strike at a Chipmunk this 2nd year Bear cub enters the picture. What happens next is amazing. I only hope that I am as lucky as it is if I ever get that close to a rattler like this. Includes two slow motion replays. We watched this live on Dogwood Mountain cam at USeeWildlife.com on June 16th, 2009. Weve been watching this snake hunt for 8 days now. The snake is believed to be a new world record length for a Timber Rattlesnake.

  • we can all hopefully learn something from this bear, that snakes are not to be feared, but that they are afraid of us, and that just leaving them alone is all thats needed to be safe from them.

  • @licmy3balls we learned so much from watching them last year. We watched at least five different Timbers on 3 seperate live cams here hunting. It was truly amazing. We learned that for the most part they will only strike at what they intend to eat. We saw bears, turkeys, deer, and foxes come within inches of them without issue. But, the squirrels and chipmunks were a different story. :)

  • so what did he get bit? :S

  • No, just spooked really bad.

  • this is unbelievable... snake vs. bear

    /watch?v=gLPZmBL3Zog

  • yep snakes are so aggressive... not

  • Very cool

  • Bear needs to go to Lenscrafters. There's a coupon in Sunday's paper---if you can find it.

  • @shadownoob83 ummmm noooooooo.....

  • bear's are like huge rat's

  • This is good proof that only idiots go killing rattlesnakes for no reason.

  • The snake had already used its venom, and likely perceived the cub as a clumsy annoyance rather than an immediate threat. But it remained wary, as it should have. Bears don't know their own strength, and that rattler really didn't want to wind up a toy.

  • nice video.
